Product Description
SSM duplex 2205 (UNS S32205) stainless steel tubes offer twice the yield strength of standard austenitic 304/316 grades while maintaining excellent corrosion resistance. The balanced ferritic-austenitic microstructure delivers an optimal combination of mechanical strength and chloride stress corrosion cracking resistance.
- Double Yield Strength: Minimum 450 MPa yield strength enables thinner wall design, reducing weight and material cost by up to 50% compared to 316L
- Superior SCC Resistance: Excellent resistance to chloride stress corrosion cracking, a critical advantage for offshore and coastal applications
- NACE MR0175 Compliant: Certified for sour service (H2S environments) in oil and gas production, with hardness ≤ 31 HRC
- High PREN Value: PREN ≥ 34 ensures outstanding pitting and crevice corrosion resistance in seawater environments
Specified for offshore platform process piping, subsea umbilicals, chemical tanker cargo lines, seawater cooling systems, desalination plant evaporators, and refinery heat exchangers where both high strength and corrosion resistance are critical.
Ferrite content verification per ASTM E562 (35-55% target), impact testing at -46°C, corrosion testing per ASTM G48 Method A, and 100% ultrasonic testing. Full NORSOK M-650 qualification available for offshore projects.
