C17200 Beryllium Bronze (also known as beryllium copper or beryllium-containing copper-based alloy) is the highest-strength copper-based alloy available today. It combines exceptional hardness, outstanding fatigue resistance, and excellent electrical conductivity – properties rarely found together in one material.
This gold-colored alloy is produced under strict ASTM B194 / B196 standards, ensuring consistent performance across mold manufacturing, electronic connectors, battery seals for new energy vehicles, and heavy-duty mechanical bushings.
Our C17200 beryllium copper sheet is available from 0.5mm to 50mm thick, with custom widths and lengths, and can be cut, machined, or polished to your exact specifications. - Beryllium addition (approx. 1.8–2.0%) enables precipitation hardening – a heat treatment process that forms ultra-fine beryllide particles inside the copper matrix.
- These particles block dislocation movement, dramatically increasing hardness and strength (up to 1300 MPa tensile strength – comparable to medium-carbon steel).
- After heat treatment, the alloy retains good conductivity (15–25% IACS) – lower than pure copper, but far higher than any steel of similar strength.
